I like the green orchids in this a lot BUT I hate roses & I for sure do not want them.

I really like this idea too.

At first we weren't going to have kids younger than like 12 at the wedding or reception (well jake and riley are of course in the wedding) but I've nixed that idea. So we'll be having some cute little favors like this at the kids table to keep them busy.

I know I've mentioned that we will be having a candy bar as our favors. I don't really like this bag, but it gives you an idea of how things will be.

This is another picture. I don't plan on having a set up like this, but it shows you more what it's supposed to look like.

This is the idea I LOVE for the centerpieces. Not with the happiness sticker, but something very close to this.

I love the way these table and chairs are set up. & they are pretty much in my colors.

More of the candy bar stuff. These are jars that were decorated by another bride. I like this idea and it's all DYI stuff. I'm going to be as much of a DYI bride as possible.

Our table numbers will be something like this. I would like them all to be pictures of Alec and I with numbers next to the pictures.

My favorite flowers EVER. I want these too. But I really love how the green orchids look, so I have to some how find a way to get everything to mix without looking bad.

Well there have been lots of changes and new ideas. After I post this, I'll be doing a post of just pictures so that you can all see what I'm talking about. I'm not doing it on this one because they load weird and it annoys me. I'm a little anal that way.

I've added my sister Tiffany as one of my bridesmaids. I now have 8 bridesmaids and we're just going to keep Alec at 7 groomsman.

So far this is the list:

The bridesmaid dresses will be black. Angela and C will both wear the same dress, in black as well.

The guys will be wearing chucks. I want them to be able to be comfortable and I love them. So I'll have it be the way I want it. =)

I know what I want for centerpieces. Well, for the most part. I'll be having big glass vases filled with big bright, granny smith apples. Probably with some pink stuff around it too.

I've also added black as one of my colors. There wont be a lot of black, but it will be included.

I know that I for sure want cala lillies in my flowers but I have also now fallen in love with green orchids. So I want them too & some pink flowers. just not sure which pink ones I want. There will be some pictures in the next post of some of the flowers that I really like.

I'm working on a guest list, but it's hard when I don't have one from Alec's parents. I already have 100 or so, including some of Alec's friends and we're trying to keep it to 200. So hopefully that works out. I'm going to be one of those crazy brides that has this huge seating chart board. lol

I want to take more engagement pictures. I really hated most of the ones we already took. Plus, I have to get pictures for our save the dates. Granted we have about 17 months to go, I love to plan and I want to get things done asap & for the chance to make things as cheap as possible.

Our save the dates are going to be awesome, but they are a secret, so you'll have to wait to get one in the mail.

Okay, well I'm going to go ahead and work on that picture post!

So a few things....

So the last time I posted I said that the girls were going to have pink dresses. BUT I have decided to have all the bridesmaid dresses in black and taryn will be wearing green still. I don't want the dress colors to clash with the decor colors (which i haven't even decided on a green or pink yet) so black will go great with everything.

Also, all the boys will be wearing black chucks instead of fancy dress shoes. I just don't think it's really important and ifyou know me at all, my style is very relaxed. & besides, I want them to be comfy. So far for Alec's side he has: Angela as his best woman, Christina as a grooms woman, Juan as a groomsmen and my brother in law (his soon to be brother in law) as a groomsman. So he's got to come up with 3 more. I also want to get all the guys as a gift for them, awesome colored ties to go with the colors of the wedding. & then of course, alec can buy the girls something special as their gifts.

There is still so much to do and I do have a lot of time, but being the super crazy planner that I am, I always worry that something wont get done. I like to have things done as soon as possible.

I have this little green notebook that I carry around with me, I write down every single idea that I come up with in it.

We still have to do save the date pictures and then make them. & we also have to do more engagement pictures because I really don't like the ones we did at first. They don't suite our personalities at all. SO we have to do that as well.

Sigh. so much to do. Plenty of time to do it though, so things could be worse I suppose.

Also, I tried on the dress that I fell in love with people this post. It's amazing and I want it. The train is a bit longer than I want but the dress is too great to pass up.

I have some more pictures and things to post and show everyone but I'm at my sisters right now and I don't have any of that stuff with me!

Some wedding dresses I really really like

So this past Saturday I went and tried on some wedding dresses with two of my sisters, my mama, taryn, anna and nikki. It was interesting. I tried on some dresses and got an idea of what I want. These are just some of the dresses that I really like.

I have decided on a bridesmaid dress. It is the blue melissa sweet one below. I will be having 7 bridesmaids. Taryn, Anna, my three sisters; Andrea, Amber and Amy, Shannon and Nikki. We'll soon be trying those on as well. Angela and Christina will have to try them on as well. On the website, I don't like the colors that the dresses come in, so we'll see what they look like in person. If I still don't like them, we'll have to get them made or something. Angela and Christina will be wearing it in black, Taryn in green and the rest of the girls in pink.

Of the wedding venue. I recently got in touch with some photographers and while looking at their blog, I noticed that one of the couples had their wedding at the Bayview on MCRD. There was another picture I found of the lighting inside when it was dark, but it wont load, so I guess you will all just have to be there! I really really want to have paper lanterns in the place too, so we'll see if that's a possibility. & yes, there is a bar inside! YAY!

ENGAGEMENT PARTY

Yes, we will be having an engagement party! I know a lot people don't get it and don't understand, but an engagement party is to celebrate the couple getting engaged. I've been working my butt off on this party. I'm even having custom invites made. They are going to be awesome! I've been busy planning a menu with yummy little finger foods. I've had a lot of help from Shannon and my sisters. It's going to be here our house. It's going to be an evening cocktail party with friends and family. We understand some people can't make it and that's fine. I'm going to decorate the yard and make it look awesome. I'm sure that Alec and Bean will help me with all of this.

It's going to be on March 29th and I'm not really sure of the time yet. Invites will be going out soon.

I love my Bridesmaids and our Best Woman and Groomswoman

So I'm having 5 (this may change) bridesmaids and Alec's Best Woman will be Angela and his groomswoman will be Christina! I love the idea of having them stand up for him. He loves them both and they are awesome friends! All of the dresses I picked out (sorry girls, no tux's. As the bride, I nix that idea lol) will look awesome in black for Ang and C.

This last dress is my favorite. It's from J Crew and not to to expensive. & oh, by the way, the colors for the wedding are: PINK, GREEN & ORANGE. Also, I'm going to let the bridesmaids and Ang & C pick out their own hairstyle. Only request I make is that it's at least half up. So half up or all the way up. & they can pick out any shoes that they want.

So many things to do!

There are so many things that still need to be done. Yes, I realize that I have over a year to plan. I do however, plan to do most of the things for the wedding myself. So figuring out everything I want and how I'm going to do it, is going to be very time consuming. I don't really have that much free time as I work full time and attend school. I have a lot of ideas of what I want at the wedding and I have a lot of things that I'm already set on. I'm going to post a few pictures with captions as to what I'm thinking, please give me any input or ideas that you might have!

For our favors, we will be doing a candy/cookie bar in cute decorative jars. You know you go to most weddings and you get a lil box with like a chocolate kiss or something. We wanted more than that for our guests. Will fill up the jars with our favorite cookies and candies. We aren't sure if we'll be using a lil box or a bag of some sort to store all of this in but it's going to be awesome!

This is a cute idea.

I'm super in love with this idea. I'm the biggest fan of cupcakes and for those of you that know me well, know I'm not the traditonal type. The design on the cake is awesome too. I want something fun!

Cake! Everyone loves cake! I love this design. It's fun and more us than a traditional cake that's all uptight. Of course, the colors would be a little bit different.

Our first dance song is already picked out as well. Alec doesn't really know the song but I love it. He doesn't really care about the dancing part of the reception. It was really hard for me to pick out one song because I love so many that would be a good choice. I'll just have those played through out the night.

Wedding Location

Alec and I have decided on a wedding location. It was only the second place we ever actually went and checked out. Both the wedding and the reception will be held at MCRD. We got an amazing deal to do it there and really lucked out because we get the chapel for free since Alec is a Marine. I have just a few pictures of what the place looks like. I'm really excited to now have this part of the planning done. We know the wedding isn't until October of 2009 but this takes a load off of our shoulders. & now I just have to sell a kidney to get the rest of this wedding rolling! KIDDING.
